A Letter from Sam & Jolene
Hello! We feel so honored that you’re taking the time to learn about us. We’ve been through a long challenging journey on our way to become parents. We are thrilled to complete this journey through adoption! We look forward to creating new family traditions and making memories with your child. We promise to provide a home filled with love, laughter and faith. We can’t wait to learn more about you and your child!
We met at a church college retreat: Sam-climbing the side of a steep mountain and Jolene-hoping he would come down to hang out! We dated for three years full of laughter and goofiness. We have been married for 13 years and are overjoyed to become first-time parents! Our adventures often include a drive through orchards to enjoy the blossoms; getting “lost” on forest roads to find a hidden pond; or a simple project at home to work on together. Walking our dog, Wiley, is how we often end a busy day. We love traveling and can’t wait to make memories with your child! Our faith is very important to us and we love being involved with our church family. We try to make a positive impact in other’s lives at every opportunity. That could be helping someone develop a budget or communicate better in relationships. We look forward to introducing your child to the many people who are so influential to us.
I’ve been blessed to be married to Jolene for 13 years. She is an incredible partner, my best friend and the greatest gift God has ever given me. The most amazing thing about her is her endless capacity to love and forgive. She brings love, light and laughter everywhere she goes. Anyone who spends time with her feels better about themselves. She loves music and is always singing around the house. She’s always been creative and I love watching her explore that through art. Her work as a teacher and childcare provider has been a great outlet for her love of children and I’m excited to see that carry over to your child. She has a natural ability to meet a child where they are at and help them learn. I can’t wait to watch her teaching your child to read, do art and to spread joy throughout this world! I know she will be their greatest advocate as they navigate life.
Sam is a thoughtful, hardworking man with strong principles and values. Even though Sam was born with a disability, he has never allowed that to be an excuse to hold him back. He has amazing perseverance and endurance. Sam never gives up. He is always ready with a joke or story! Sam tells a story like you are actually there. Being an engineer, he enjoys working with his hands creating and fixing things. Sam will enjoy teaching your child to build anything from planters to bookends. He is also very creative with recipes when grilling and cooking. Sam loves to be outdoors exploring and appreciating the beauty and is looking forward to sharing many adventures with your child! I am very excited for Sam to share with your child the love and kindness his heart holds.
Our home is in a great family neighborhood. It’s a great place for evening walks, bike riding and appreciating the natural beauty of Washington. Living close to several national parks, we never tire of seeing more of this wonderful Earth. We’ve worked hard to prepare a nursery and the rest of our home for a child. Our sunny backyard and patio will make a great place for games of catch, BBQ’s and water fights!
Our families are very excited for us to adopt. They’ve prayed for us since we began our journey to becoming parents. They look forward to reading books, especially Bible stories; sharing a love for animals and the outdoors; teaching gardening and sharing family stories. Some family members live as close as 10 minutes away while others live as far away as California and Washington D.C. No matter the distance, we work hard to maintain those relationships. We’ve also developed strong friendships values-drive people who can’t wait to be a part of your child’s life.
We promise that your child will grow up to know that they are loved, worthy, and accepted by God, by us and by you. We will teach your child to love people and help them at every opportunity. We’re looking forward to helping them love learning and recognize failures as opportunities to grow. There will never be a shortage of laughter and hugs! Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We hope to hear from you soon!

Sam enjoys fixing things and being creative. He has a knack for making delicious stews, roasts, and experimenting with other recipes. He also makes extremely tasty steaks on the BBQ! Sam likes to read about leadership, God and history. He finds peace in the outdoors, whether that's taking a walk or hike, building a camp fire or finding snow in the mountains in May for our dog to play in! Sam has a great sense of humor and always has a funny joke or story to tell. He is a very talented writer, too!

She enjoys watching funny movies and always manages to quote one at the perfect time. She has a great love for the children at her work and works tirelessly for their benefit.
We believe we were created in God’s image, meant to be with Him. But we were separated by our sin so God brought us back to Him through the blood of Jesus. He is risen, alive and wants to have a relationship with us. Your child will be raised in a household devoted to developing that relationship with God and following His design for our lives. We're blessed to have a fantastic church family we meet with usually twice a week. We enjoy serving God's people in a variety of ways and are excited to share that with your child.
About Our Home and Neighborhood
Our neighborhood is made up of people of all ages. In the evenings, there are always kids playing outside and people walking. We’re only a few blocks from two schools and our church’s youth pastor lives just a few houses away. We are also not far from several beautiful parks with family play areas and even duck ponds! Our home is cozy and bright with 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The nursery is the middle bedroom. The back patio is great for summer meals outside. The backyard is fenced and has nice shade trees. We’ve just planted some berries; soon there will be fresh fruit!
We are very excited to adopt our first child!
We live in the state of Washington
It is a beautiful place to live with coastal rain forest, gorgeous mountains, high desert and everything in between. We live in a valley surrounded by beautiful orchards that bloom each spring and flood the farmers markets with fresh produce. We're only about an hour from the mountains and all of the activities they offer. Every spring we try to explore at least one new place in these great mountains.
Our Greatest Adventure
Several years ago, we had the amazing opportunity to go to Zimbabwe on a evangelical mission trip. On that trip, we were able to share our faith and help a local congregation build their community outreach. We also were able to meet and visit the child we had been supporting in an orphanage through a sister-church. It was the most beautiful thing to see the hearts of love in these children. That may have been the beginning of God guiding us toward adoption.
